Welcome to our new Albany Park Theater Project blog, and thanks for visiting. At APTP, we are storytellers. Over the years, we’ve found that we have far more stories to tell than we can possibly put on our stage. We plan to use this blog as a space to extend our storytelling, and to offer our friends a way to enter the APTP world even when we don’t have a performance on stage.
You’ll hear from a diverse range of voices on this blog. Sure, I’ll have plenty to say, as APTP’s producing artistic director. But you’ll also hear from other members of our artistic team, from our teen ensemble, and from alumni of the company. We’ll take you inside of our unique creative process, with reflections, photos, audio, and video from all phases of APTP play development, from conducting interviews through developing theatrical ideas to rehearsal. We’ll also share reports from our off-stage programs: the activism, community engagement, youth development, and college counseling that make APTP a thriving community of young leaders dedicated to making our world more beautiful and just. And, as our alumni venture out into the world, they’ll write home about their experiences as first-generation college students, and about the careers they pursue inspired by their years with APTP. We hope to not only offer more insight into APTP, but also more opportunities to see the world at large through the eyes of APTPians.
Please have patience with us as we get started. We’re making a new play right now, even as we launch this blog. We promise to get the hang of it and to make this a meaningful place for you to spend some of your time.
